My favourite book as a child was the penguin compendium of Lear's absurdist verse. Any opportunity I get to use the term runcible spoon is still eagerly seized upon.

When I say child I mean 38 year-old man.

"When awful darkness and silence reign, over the great Gromboolian plain..." Sure he'll love it, Everett.

far and few, far and few are the lands where the Jumblies live. Their heads are green and their hands are blue and they went to sea in a sieve. I practically know the whole book off by heart!
